A New 5.7 Pistol

However, several manufacturers have started to release models in the caliber, with the Smith and Wesson M&P 5.7 being one of the newest additions to the market. The Smith and Wesson M&P 5.7

First announced in January of this year and featured at Shot Show 2023, the Smith & Wesson M&P 5.7 has already become popular among the firearms community. It has a stainless steel slide with 3-dot sights and a cut for optics. This 5.7 has a 5-inch steel barrel which features Smith and Wesson’s new Tempo barrel system, which has a 2-piece rotating barrel with a proprietary gas system that ensures the projectile has exited the barrel before the cam opens and ejects the casing. This allows for the smooth cycling of rounds and reduces the risk of malfunction. 

The M&P 5.7 also has other features that make it appealing. The slide has forward and rear serrations for easy racking and the grip frame also has a Picatinny rail for easy mounting of a flashlight or laser. The gun features an ambidextrous slide stop as well as a magazine release that can be reversed for left-handed shooters. The Smith and Wesson 5.7 pistol also comes with two 22-round magazines and features a crisp flat-faced trigger with a built-in trigger safety.
