The Beretta company was founded in 1526 as a barrel-making company in the northern part of Italy. Over time in the many years since then, the company has built a legacy that has continued to this day. They were a trusted firearms manufacturer for the Italian army during WWI and WW2 and had an active role in repairing the American M1 Garand, which was modified to become the Beretta BM-59 rifle. Beretta is the oldest active manufacturer in the firearm industry. Today, the Beretta name is reputable among military, police, and home-defense shooters with popular guns like the Beretta PX4, the Beretta M9, and the Beretta 21A Bobcat.

Summer Movie Mondays: The Firearms of The Hurt Locker

Summer Movie Mondays The Firearms of The Hurt Locker

Welcome to another Summer Movie Monday blog from GrabAGun! On this Movie Monday, we’re looking at the firearms used by an Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal team from Bravo Company as they try to take out IEDs in the Iraq war. We’re going to be taking a look at the firearms of The Hurt Locker

While there are a lot of military firearms seen in the movie, we’ll be focusing on civilian variants of these weapons that we have available at GrabAGun. They provide quality performance and a similar look and feel to the military versions, making them a great choice for those that want to honor our military and handle similar firearms. So sit back and get ready to take a look at the firearms of The Hurt Locker.

The Colt M4A1 Carbine

The Colt M4A1 carbine SOCOM

A famous rifle known for its military use in the past several decades, there’s the Colt M4A1 carbine. In the movie, it can be seen in the hands of James (Jeremy Renner), Sanborn (Anthony Mackie), and Eldridge (Brian Geraghty) throughout the movie. For each of them, it’s the primary weapon they carry on deployment and serves to protect them while taking down insurgents. Its known durability in the field is part of the reason it’s served the military for so long.

The Colr M4 carbine

While we don’t currently have the M4A1 carbine available, we do have the Colt M4 carbine for sale at GrabAGun. It’s a civilian version of the rifle that boasts a similar design and the durability of the Colt M4A1. The main difference is the handguard, which has a smooth finish rather than the Picatinny rails on the M4 carbine. However, there’s still a Picatinny rail on top of the upper, making it easy to mount an optic like we see in the film. It’s an excellent rifle for sporting and home defense.

While It’s only featured briefly in a scene, the Mossberg 500 cruiser makes an appearance in the movie. It can be seen in the hands of one of the guards that apprehend James after he leaves the base without authorization on a vigilante mission.

This version of the cruiser features the same 12 gauge shotgun design with a pistol grip for a compact build and easy maneuverability. This model also comes with a waterproof just-in-case can and a survival kit as an added bonus.

The Beretta 92FS

While it’s only visible in certain portions of the movie, we see James, as well as Sanborn, using the classic Beretta 92FS. It served as a faithful sidearm for many in the military, providing reliable performance and durability when it’s needed most

We know we’ve talked about it before, but the Beretta 92FS is quite a popular pistol. It boasts a durable build that’s allowed it to have such a successful military career as the Beretta M9. It seamlessly cycles and feeds thousands of rounds thanks to its revolutionary design and sturdy metal build.

The Glock 19

Glock 19 Gen 5

Though we don’t see him use it, Anthony Mackie’s character takes a Glock 19 off one of the British military contractors before they know they’re on the same side. He aims it in tandem with his M4A1 at the men as they get them to drop their weapons.

As another one of the most popular handguns in the world, it’s not a surprise to see that the contractor is packing a Glock 19 as his sidearm. The pistol boasts a light but durable build and good magazine capacity, making it an easy pistol to carry. This Gen 5 model also features black polymer grips with an interchangeable backstrap so the pistol can easily fit your hand. It also has a cold-hammer-forged barrel for added durability.
