Welcome back to Summer Movie Mondays at GrabAGun! This final Movie Monday, we’re making it our mission to cover a few of the most notable firearms in an entire movie series. It’s a collection of movies that focus on skilled espionage, tense shootouts, and impossible stunts done by Ethan Hunt and his fellow IMF agents. Today, we’re looking at the firearms of the Mission Impossible Movies.

There have been a lot of firearms that have been on the screen during these action-packed movies. So while we could take the time to look at all of them, we’re going to try to take a look at a few models that we haven’t discussed in previous Movie Mondays. Thankfully, there are a lot to choose from. With 7 movies out and an 8th on the way, Tom Cruise’s character (Ethan Hunt), along with the other agents and villains throughout the films, have handled lots of firearms. With that, let’s take a look at a few of them:

The Sig Sauer P228 / M11

Sig Sauer 229 / Sig Sauer M11

Though it’s no longer in production, the Sig Sauer P228 can be seen in the hands of Ethan Hunt and other IMF agents in the first Mission: Impossible movie in 1996. It was a versatility 9mm compact pistol that was used by US armed forces as the Sig Sauer M11. Though we don’t have the P228 available at GrabAGun, we do have the Sig Sauer P229 M11, which was an upgraded version of the Sig P228 introduced in the early 90s. It provides a similar look and feel while having the added benefit of handling higher-power rounds.

Summer Movie Mondays: The Firearms of The Hurt Locker

Summer Movie Mondays The Firearms of The Hurt Locker

Welcome to another Summer Movie Monday blog from GrabAGun! On this Movie Monday, we’re looking at the firearms used by an Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal team from Bravo Company as they try to take out IEDs in the Iraq war. We’re going to be taking a look at the firearms of The Hurt Locker

While there are a lot of military firearms seen in the movie, we’ll be focusing on civilian variants of these weapons that we have available at GrabAGun. They provide quality performance and a similar look and feel to the military versions, making them a great choice for those that want to honor our military and handle similar firearms. So sit back and get ready to take a look at the firearms of The Hurt Locker.

The Colt M4A1 Carbine

The Colt M4A1 carbine SOCOM

A famous rifle known for its military use in the past several decades, there’s the Colt M4A1 carbine. In the movie, it can be seen in the hands of James (Jeremy Renner), Sanborn (Anthony Mackie), and Eldridge (Brian Geraghty) throughout the movie. For each of them, it’s the primary weapon they carry on deployment and serves to protect them while taking down insurgents. Its known durability in the field is part of the reason it’s served the military for so long.

The Colr M4 carbine

While we don’t currently have the M4A1 carbine available, we do have the Colt M4 carbine for sale at GrabAGun. It’s a civilian version of the rifle that boasts a similar design and the durability of the Colt M4A1. The main difference is the handguard, which has a smooth finish rather than the Picatinny rails on the M4 carbine. However, there’s still a Picatinny rail on top of the upper, making it easy to mount an optic like we see in the film. It’s an excellent rifle for sporting and home defense.

This version of the cruiser features the same 12 gauge shotgun design with a pistol grip for a compact build and easy maneuverability. This model also comes with a waterproof just-in-case can and a survival kit as an added bonus.

The Beretta 92FS

the Beretta 92FS pistol

While it’s only visible in certain portions of the movie, we see James, as well as Sanborn, using the classic Beretta 92FS. It served as a faithful sidearm for many in the military, providing reliable performance and durability when it’s needed most

We know we’ve talked about it before, but the Beretta 92FS is quite a popular pistol. It boasts a durable build that’s allowed it to have such a successful military career as the Beretta M9. It seamlessly cycles and feeds thousands of rounds thanks to its revolutionary design and sturdy metal build.

The Glock 19

Though we don’t see him use it, Anthony Mackie’s character takes a Glock 19 off one of the British military contractors before they know they’re on the same side. He aims it in tandem with his M4A1 at the men as they get them to drop their weapons.

As another one of the most popular handguns in the world, it’s not a surprise to see that the contractor is packing a Glock 19 as his sidearm. The pistol boasts a light but durable build and good magazine capacity, making it an easy pistol to carry. This Gen 5 model also features black polymer grips with an interchangeable backstrap so the pistol can easily fit your hand. It also has a cold-hammer-forged barrel for added durability.

Summer Movie Mondays: The Firearms of Taken

cover photo which says "Summer Movie Mondays the firearms of Taken"

Welcome to another Summer Movie Monday blog from GrabAGun! This Movie Monday, we’re looking at the firearms used in an iconic action movie where an ex-CIA agent and father, Bryan Mills, hunts down human traffickers to save his kidnapped daughter. Starring Liam Neeson, the movie we’re looking at today is the famous Taken

With a variety of firearms used throughout the movie, we’ll be focusing on some of the most memorable and impactful weapons that helped Neeson’s character get the job done. So, grab your popcorn, sit back, and get ready to dive into the world of Taken firearms.

The Beretta 92FS

the Beretta 92FS pistol

One of the primary guns used by Bryan Mills throughout the majority of the movie is the ever-popular Beretta 92FS. While he can be seen using a two-tone stainless steel and black model in some parts of the movie, Mills uses a black model for the majority of the film. The Beretta proves to be a good sidearm to the former CIA agent, taking down lots of traffickers as he seeks to find and rescue his kidnapped daughter.

As we’ve previously mentioned, the Beretta 92FS boasts a sturdy construction that’s built upon a legendary military career as the M9. This civilian version of the handgun seamlessly cycles and feeds, even after firing thousands of rounds. Moreover, the build quality of the firearm is exceptional. With an aircraft-grade anodized aluminum alloy frame, a steel slide and barrel, and polymer grips, the Beretta 92FS is a reliable choice for both competition and defense purposes.

The Sig Sauer P226

Sig Sauer P226 MK25

While the Beretta might’ve been the primary firearm used by Bryan Mills in the movie, it is not, by far, the only gun he uses. During a vivid scenario near the end of the movie, Mills takes a Sig Sauer P226 from a guard on a yacht where his daughter should be hidden. He then goes room by room and dispatches several heavily-armed guards with this gun, taking them down despite the odds.

While in the movie he uses a stainless steel and black model of the Sig P226, this black Sig P226 MK25 still operates with precision and accuracy. This MK25 model is designed after the version used by the Navy SEALs and provides performance and durability you can rely on in any situation. This Sig-Sauer P226 features aluminum and steel construction and has night sights and a Picatinny rail for easy customization. Just like our hero, you can count on this quality 9mm handgun from Sig Sauer as a dependable personal defense gun.

The Glock 17

The Glock 17 Gen 5 pistol

While not used by Mills in the movie, we do see a Glock 17 appear during the movie. It’s wielded by one of the baddies trying to take him out. Despite his efforts, he fails to take down Mills and the gun is quickly lost in the fray. However, this doesn’t make it a bad pistol. In fact, it’s one of the best on the market.

The newest version of this Glock 17, the Glock 17 Gen 5, delivers high-quality performance that professionals around the world rely on when in the field. A favorite of many shooters, the Glock 17 provides you with a lightweight steel and polymer build that provides excellent durability while remaining easy to handle. And while it doesn’t have a manual safety, it has 3 mechanical safeties built into the firing mechanism so it’ll only fire when you intentionally pull the trigger.

The Rock Island Armory M1911

Rock Island Armory M1911-A1

Though it’s another gun not used by Mills in the movie, there’s an M1911-A1 that gets a decent amount of screen time in the hands of one of the traffickers. He can be seen wielding his nickel-plated 1911 as they leave an apartment building in pursuit of Mills, though he doesn’t succeed at the task of taking him out.

While this 1911 from Rock Island Armory isn’t nickel plated, it does promise reliable performance as one of the most well-known firearms in the world. The M1911 is a classic military pistol, used by the U.S. military from 1911 through the 1980s. This Rock Island 1911 delivers excellent durability and power in a full-sized pistol, making it a great choice for self-defense purposes. And if you really have your heart set on a 45 ACP in nickel, you can check out the Rock Island Armory Rock Standard FS 1911.

The Heckler & Koch MP5

HK MP5 22LR replica rifle

Last, but certainly not least, is a gun that has been featured in many movies, including Taken. The HK MP5 can be seen towards the end of the movie in the same yacht scene we mentioned before. Many of the guards on the yacht are armed with these guns, which means that Mills eventually gets his hands on one after eliminating its previous owner. He then uses it to defend himself as he navigates the rooms and hallways of the yacht as he searches for his daughter.

While you can’t find the submachine guns that are featured in the movie for sale at GrabAGun, we do have the next best thing! Heckler & Koch makes this semi-auto MP5 replica, which provides a similar look and feel to the original gun but with a build that’s legal for citizens. It’s chambered in .22LR and features a 25-round capacity mag, a collapsible stock, and adjustable sights for maximum customization. This Heckler and Koch MP5 will be a blast to take to the range!

Additional Firearms Featured

While these are a few of the main firearms that were featured in the movie, there are some others worth noting that are no longer made. The Taurus PT111 and PT145 have prominent roles in the hands of some of the bad guys in the movie, as well as Liam Neeson’s character. Additionally, though it’s hard to see, you can spot a Mossberg 590 shotgun towards the end of the movie as the police come in to apprehend him.

SUMMER MOVIE MONDAYS: The Guns of John Wick

The guns of John Wick cover image

Welcome to another edition of GrabAGun’s Summer Movie Monday blog! Today, we’re shifting our focus to the iconic John Wick movies and the guns that make them so memorable.

John Wick, played by Keanu Reeves, is a legendary assassin who has a unique way of taking out his enemies. He’s a master of close-quarters combat and is equally deadly with a variety of firearms. In this blog post, we’ll be featuring three of our favorite guns from the John Wick movies: the Kel-Tec KSG, the Glock 26, and the Sig MPX Competition Carbine.

Kel-Tec KSG Overview

The Kel-Tec KSG is a pump-action shotgun that John Wick uses in the first film after taking it from an enemy during a battle outside a church. This modernized shotgun is designed for maximum stopping power and has a more refined stability and less chaotic recoil. The KelTec KSG is not a double-barreled shotgun, as many people mistakenly believe due to its twin tube magazines located underneath the barrel. It fires 12-gauge shotgun shells with several ammo capacity variants, depending on the version in question. Let’s learn a little more about this great 12 gauge shotgun.

Glock 26 Overview

One of the simpler guns in the franchise, John Wick uses the Glock 26 in each of the first three movies. While it appears to be quite basic, it is one of Wick’s personal favorites, which is not good for anyone who might happen to find themselves on the other end of the barrel. The most memorable scene in which John Wick used this Glock was the bathhouse sequence from the first John Wick, which made it one of the best movies for fans of action movie fight choreography. Chasing down the man that killed his beloved dog, Wick takes on over a dozen henchmen, mostly with this weapon.

Summer at the Movies: The Beretta 92FS of Die Hard

It’s Christmas Eve. On this chilly night somewhere in an LA skyscraper, a company Christmas Eve party has gone wrong. Against all the odds, one New York Police officer who is in town to visit his wife Holly and their two children for the holiday, John McClane, has to take on a team of baddies in an attempt to save the day. His tools? His skills as a police officer, his wits, and his trusty Beretta 92.

The Beretta 92 in Die Hard

Throughout the original Die Hard movie, as well as Die Hard 2 and Die Hard 3 (Die Hard with a Vengeance), we see John McClane wielding the Beretta 92 as he works tirelessly to save the day movie after movie. Chambered in 9mm with a heavy steel build, the Beretta is a durable full-sized pistol that stands up to the beating that McClane puts it through, reliably firing shot after shot and taking down the terrorists in the movie as he works to ruin their plot and save his wife. He continues to make use of it as he fights off bad guys up until the 4th movie. In the original movie, McClane uses the Beretta 92F but uses the Beretta 92FS in later movies.

History of the Beretta 92

The Beretta 92 is a series of semi-automatic pistols designed and manufactured by Beretta of Italy. The pistol evolved from earlier Beretta designs, most notably the M1923 and M1951. The Beretta 92 was designed in 1975, and production began in 1976. Many variants in several different calibers continue to be used in the present.

The Beretta 92FS was adopted by the United States military in 1985 as the “M9” to replace the .45 ACP M1911A1 pistol. It features several advanced design features, including a magazine with direct feed and a “double-stacked” design, a feature originally introduced in 1935 on the Browning Hi-Power. The Beretta 92FS also has an open slide design, hard-chromed barrel bore, and falling locking block design that provides good accuracy and operability with suppressors. Today, the Beretta 92 is available in many configurations and models, and it remains a popular choice among law enforcement and military organizations worldwide.

Summer Movie Mondays: The Marlin 1895 of Jurassic World

Summer Movie Mondays Cover image. The Marlin 1895 in Jurassic World. Image has the rifle and a dinosaur

Welcome back to GrabAGun’s Summer Movie Mondays, the series where we look at iconic firearms in some of the most popular movies in the world of film. This week, we’re taking a look at a popular rifle featured in one of the biggest and most well-known movie franchises in the world. The firearm in question is the classic lever action Marlin 1895 rifle, which can be seen in the hands of Owen Grady in the popular pre-historic film, Jurassic World.

The Marlin in Jurassic World

The firearm of choice for the velociraptor trainer and main hero of the movie, the Marlin 1895 SBL is a lever-action rifle chambered in the powerful .45-70 Government caliber. Known for being used in big game hunting, this caliber is accurately used by Grady to defend himself and take down several small and medium-sized dinos, as seen throughout the movie.

In addition to functioning well as a bing game rifle, the Marlin also looks the part as the hero’s rifle. As with many of Chris Pratt’s movie characters, Owen Grady is a tough and traditional hero that doesn’t let any challenges overcome him. The Marlin 1895 fits this character well, with a classic and durable build and finish that Grady can depend on throughout the movie.

Its role in the movie has cemented its place in pop culture history. This plus its rugged and classic design continue to make it a popular choice for hunters and shooters.

While you (probably) won’t be taking down dinos or running through the jungle like Owen Grady did, the Marlin 1895 still delivers quality features that you can rely on just like he did. As previously mentioned, the 45-70 caliber is a powerful round that can take down big game with ease.

Additionally, this Marlin 45-70 rifle has a variety of features that provide an exceptional shooting experience. It boasts of an adjustable ghost ring rear sight and a high visibility Tritium fiber optic front sight which allow for quicker target acquisition in every circumstance, including low light situations. It has a top Picatinny-style rail that provides a stable mounting surface for scope rings and a variety of modern optics. The Nickel-plated bolt with spiral flutes adds a distinctive, classy look and a smoother action, and the threaded barrel, with a match-polished, factory-installed thread protector, has an 11/16″ -24 thread pattern to accommodate a muzzle brake and other barrel accessories.

Summer Movie Mondays: The Firearms of Saving Private Ryan

Summer Movie Mondays: The Firearms of Saving Private Ryan

Welcome back to our Summer Movie Mondays series. With today being Memorial Day, we want to remember and honor the brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives for our country. We’re going to do that by taking a look at a movie that does just that… Saving Private Ryan

Considered by many to be one of the greatest movies of all time, Saving Private Ryan is a movie that seeks to convey the harsh reality of combat in WWII without glamorizing it. From the famous opening of the movie to the very last scene, it displays the horrors of battle during the era.

While the movie’s focus is on the soldiers’ journey to save one man, it also gives us a glimpse into the weapons and equipment used during the war. In this blog, we’ll take a closer look at two guns used in Saving Private Ryan and how they played a pivotal role in the war effort. Join us as we remember the sacrifices made by our military heroes and the tools they used to defend our freedom.

Firearms in Saving Private Ryan

When it comes to the firearms used in Saving Private Ryan, there’s a huge list of historically accurate weapons that were featured in the movie. While many of these firearms are historically significant in the context of the war, we’re going to look at two that can be seen in the hands of US soldiers throughout the film. The first of these is the popular M1 Carbine, a rifle issued to many soldiers throughout the war. The second is the Colt 1911, which is a standard sidearm issued by many soldiers that were deployed during the war.

History of These Firearms

The Colt 1911 pistol has a rich history that goes back even further than WWII, particularly in its role during World War II. Designed by firearms inventor John Browning, the M1911 (Colt 1911 or Colt Government) is a semi-automatic pistol chambered in .45 ACP. The pistol was adopted by the US military in 1911 and saw widespread use in both World War I and World War II. During World War II, various models were used by American soldiers in both theaters of the war. The pistol’s reliability and stopping power made it a favorite among troops, and it became one of the most iconic firearms of the war.

The M1 carbine played a significant role in World War II as a lightweight, semi-automatic rifle that was easy to carry and fire. Designed by David Marshall Williams at Winchester, the M1 carbine was produced in large numbers and issued to American soldiers throughout the war. It was created to solve some of the problems created by the M1 Garand, such as size, weight, and ease of operation. While the M1 carbine was not as powerful as other rifles, it was effective at short ranges and provided soldiers with a reliable and accurate weapon. The M1 carbine’s success in World War II led to its continued use in the Korean War and other conflicts.

Summer Movie Mondays: James Bond and the Walther PPK

Summer Movie Mondays cover photo. The Walther PPK as seen in James Bond

You’ve got the black fitted suit, the bow tie, and the martini (shaken, not stirred, of course). Your whole James Bond look is ready, except for one crucial item. One that, throughout the years of Bond films, has become essential to the character: the Walther PPK

Why the PPK?

Though the PPK is famous for serving as Bond’s weapon of choice in many of the books and movies, it didn’t always hold this level of significance for the character.

The creator of the James Bond books and movies, Ian Fleming, had originally given Bond a Beretta pistol as his weapon of choice. However, upon the advice of British firearms specialist, Geoffrey Boothroyd, Fleming swapped Bond’s primary weapon to the Walther PPK. The change was made in the 1958 novel, “Dr. No,” with additional books and movies from the series featuring 007 carrying the pistol. Though Bond accepted the PPK with some reluctance, the gun quickly became known for its association with him.

While other Walther pistols were used by Bond throughout the franchise, Daniel Craig picked the PPK back up when he took on the role in “Casino Royale” and has continued to use it since. The iconic pistol is carried by the classy agent from MI6 as he saves the day, time after time. This is why the iconic Walther PPK has maintained its popularity for decades.

History of the Walther PPK

Created almost 100 years ago by German firearms company Walther, the PPK inspired an entirely new category in the firearm industry. It created a new pocket pistol that delivered power and performance in a small, concealable handgun. Boasting a double-action function and chambered in .380 ACP, the Walther PPK provides all the power and speed needed for self-defense.

The design of the PPK stems from the original PP model. It was designed for police use and saw its primary use by police forces in Europe starting in the 1930s. This is a semi-automatic pistol operated using a simple blowback action. The PP was designed with several safety features, many of them innovative, including an automatic hammer block, a combination safety/decocker, and a loaded chamber indicator. The PPK Walther was later introduced as a pocket version of the PP pistol in 1931.

The PPK is a revolutionary concept that took all the modern advancements available at the time and combined them into one performance-leading pistol. Few guns have withstood the test of time like this handgun. To this day, it is still a highly sought-after concealed carry pistol. This is no doubt in part to the lasting legacy from James Bond. To see a list of all movies and TV shows the PPK was featured in, check out this page from the Internet Movie Firearms Database.

Walther PPK/S

Extremely similar to the standard PPK, Walther also makes the PPK/S pistol. This pistol is available in .380 ACP as well as .22LR, and provides a longer grip. This is good for those that like the design of the PPK but want added capacity or have slightly larger hands. Additionally, the .22LR options provide less recoil which can be good for shooters desiring less recoil or those wanting to plink for fun.
