Summer Movie Mondays: The Firearms of Taken
Welcome to another Summer Movie Monday blog from GrabAGun! This Movie Monday, we’re looking at the firearms used in an iconic action movie where an ex-CIA agent and father, Bryan Mills, hunts down human traffickers to save his kidnapped daughter. Starring Liam Neeson, the movie we’re looking at today is the famous Taken.
With a variety of firearms used throughout the movie, we’ll be focusing on some of the most memorable and impactful weapons that helped Neeson’s character get the job done. So, grab your popcorn, sit back, and get ready to dive into the world of Taken firearms.
The Beretta 92FS
One of the primary guns used by Bryan Mills throughout the majority of the movie is the ever-popular Beretta 92FS. While he can be seen using a two-tone stainless steel and black model in some parts of the movie, Mills uses a black model for the majority of the film. The Beretta proves to be a good sidearm to the former CIA agent, taking down lots of traffickers as he seeks to find and rescue his kidnapped daughter.
As we’ve previously mentioned, the Beretta 92FS boasts a sturdy construction that’s built upon a legendary military career as the M9. This civilian version of the handgun seamlessly cycles and feeds, even after firing thousands of rounds. Moreover, the build quality of the firearm is exceptional. The Sig Sauer P226
While the Beretta might’ve been the primary firearm used by Bryan Mills in the movie, it is not, by far, the only gun he uses. During a vivid scenario near the end of the movie, Mills takes a Sig Sauer P226 from a guard on a yacht where his daughter should be hidden. He then goes room by room and dispatches several heavily-armed guards with this gun, taking them down despite the odds.
While in the movie he uses a stainless steel and black model of the Sig P226, this black Sig P226 MK25 still operates with precision and accuracy. This MK25 model is designed after the version used by the Navy SEALs and provides performance and durability you can rely on in any situation. This Sig-Sauer P226 features aluminum and steel construction and has night sights and a Picatinny rail for easy customization. The Glock 17
While not used by Mills in the movie, we do see a Glock 17 appear during the movie. It’s wielded by one of the baddies trying to take him out. Despite his efforts, he fails to take down Mills and the gun is quickly lost in the fray. However, this doesn’t make it a bad pistol. In fact, it’s one of the best on the market.
The newest version of this Glock 17, the Glock 17 Gen 5, delivers high-quality performance that professionals around the world rely on when in the field. The Rock Island Armory M1911
Though it’s another gun not used by Mills in the movie, there’s an M1911-A1 that gets a decent amount of screen time in the hands of one of the traffickers. He can be seen wielding his nickel-plated 1911 as they leave an apartment building in pursuit of Mills, though he doesn’t succeed at the task of taking him out.
While this 1911 from Rock Island Armory isn’t nickel plated, it does promise reliable performance as one of the most well-known firearms in the world. The M1911 is a classic military pistol, used by the U.S. military from 1911 through the 1980s. This Rock Island 1911 delivers excellent durability and power in a full-sized pistol, making it a great choice for self-defense purposes. The Heckler & Koch MP5
Last, but certainly not least, is a gun that has been featured in many movies, including Taken. The HK MP5 can be seen towards the end of the movie in the same yacht scene we mentioned before. Many of the guards on the yacht are armed with these guns, which means that Mills eventually gets his hands on one after eliminating its previous owner. He then uses it to defend himself as he navigates the rooms and hallways of the yacht as he searches for his daughter.
While you can’t find the submachine guns that are featured in the movie for sale at GrabAGun, we do have the next best thing! Additional Firearms Featured
While these are a few of the main firearms that were featured in the movie, there are some others worth noting that are no longer made. The Taurus PT111 and PT145 have prominent roles in the hands of some of the bad guys in the movie, as well as Liam Neeson’s character. Additionally, though it’s hard to see, you can spot a Mossberg 590 shotgun towards the end of the movie as the police come in to apprehend him.
