Welcome back to Summer Movie Mondays at GrabAGun! This final Movie Monday, we’re making it our mission to cover a few of the most notable firearms in an entire movie series. It’s a collection of movies that focus on skilled espionage, tense shootouts, and impossible stunts done by Ethan Hunt and his fellow IMF agents. Today, we’re looking at the firearms of the Mission Impossible Movies.
There have been a lot of firearms that have been on the screen during these action-packed movies. So while we could take the time to look at all of them, we’re going to try to take a look at a few models that we haven’t discussed in previous Movie Mondays. Thankfully, there are a lot to choose from. With 7 movies out and an 8th on the way, Tom Cruise’s character (Ethan Hunt), along with the other agents and villains throughout the films, have handled lots of firearms. With that, let’s take a look at a few of them:
The Sig Sauer P228 / M11
Though it’s no longer in production, the Sig Sauer P228 can be seen in the hands of Ethan Hunt and other IMF agents in the first Mission: Impossible movie in 1996. It was a versatility 9mm compact pistol that was used by US armed forces as the Sig Sauer M11. Sig Sauer P226
The 4th installment in the movie franchise, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, features several variations of the Sig Sauer P266. They’re wielded by Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise), Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg), William Brandt (Jeremy Renner), and Agent Carter (Paula Patton) throughout the film while they fight to prevent nuclear war. This Sig P226 Mk25 version features a larger, weighty build that helps reduce recoil and increase accuracy.
Though only, this IWI Jericho 941 pistol can be seen in the 6th movie in the franchise, Mission Impossible Fallout is a pretty cool pistol. During a brief scene in a darkly lit tunnel in London, Benji and several other agents can be seen holding IWI Jericho pistols as they talk through the situation.
