One of the most popular guns on the market, .357 Magnum revolvers are known for their power and dependable performance. The Background
The .357 Magnum caliber was first manufactured in the mid-1930s during the gangster/mob era of the Great Depression. It’s based upon the older design of the .38 Special but delivers higher muzzle velocity and energy, making it better for defense. The .38 Special delivers a maximum muzzle velocity of around 1000 fps with approximately 250-300 ft-lbs of force. While this was decent, it couldn’t penetrate light cover. The new, more powerful 357 Magnum was born out of this need, delivering muzzle velocities of 1,000-1,300 fps and a force of roughly 500-700 ft-lbs and penetrating light cover with ease.
The reason we’re covering stainless steel revolvers is because of the durability and flexibility that they offer. In addition to featuring the mechanically simple function, a stainless steel revolver is also extremely resistant to corrosion and rust. This allows more flexibility with the cleaning, usage, and storage of the revolver. It’s also an important consideration for those that live in a more humid or wet climate, as a gun that’s not stainless steel may be prone to rust or corrode quicker.
Another detail worth noting. Since these revolvers are chambered in .357 Magnum, they’re all capable of handling .38 Special and .38 SPL +P rounds as well. This is because normal .38 Special and the +P rounds have the same diameter as .357 Mag but deliver lower pressures. So as a result, all of these revolvers on the list can handle .38 Special and .38 SPL +P rounds.

Smith & Wesson are no strangers to the micro pistol. The M&P Bodyguard has been a longstanding favorite among gun enthusiasts. The aluminum alloy frame is surprisingly lightweight, yet just as durable and long-lasting as you’d expect. It’s reliable, performative, and adaptable to a wide variety of shooters. About the S&W CSX for Sale
The Smith & Wesson CSX pays homage to the metal frame micro compacts of the past but brings the classic style to the 21st century. It’s similar to the Shield Plus Pistol though that’s where the similarities end. The CSX features a rich aluminum alloy frame as well as a 10+1 or a 12+1 magazine capacity chambered in 9mm. This small but mighty hammer-fired pistol is perfect for concealed carry.
More than likely, the first thing that drew your eye to this pistol is the single-action external hammer. This provides a crisp and consistent trigger press all the while the visual and physical control of the hammer provides additional confidence for concealed carry, especially when reholstering. Beneath that hammer is an ambidextrous safety. The innovative design incorporates external safeties pinned to the inside of the grip. These steel ambidextrous safeties hinge along the back of the grip for efficient access and positive engagement for different hand sizes and shooting grips.
Down from there, you’ll notice the interchangeable backstraps. The CSX pistol comes with two interchangeable backstraps to suit your ideal grip and concealment preferences. It comes with a standard backstrap that fills the hand for comfort. There’s also a smaller backstrap that offers, not only a reduced size grip for those with smaller hands but a lower profile for concealment as well.
The aluminum alloy frame also features a truly ambidextrous steel slide stop. With the low-profile design, there’s the chance for easy activation into the up position while tactile grooves along the top ridge make for efficient deactivation. This ships with two, easy-to-change magazine release buttons, making this useful for both left and right-handed shooters. The textured design and slight rise of the aluminum button on the frame make it easy to depress while also helping to reduce the chance of an unintentional release.
In addition to all of this, the CSX carries over several favorite features from other Smith and Wesson firearms. The CSX features a flat-faced trigger with a trigger safety extending across the face of the trigger for a consistent feel. There are appropriately placed, glare-reducing serrations on both the front and rear portions of the slide. In fact, the rear serrations feature a flared design for easier manipulation. It also comes equipped with a 3.1-inch barrel, dovetail white front sights, and 2-white dot rear sights.
